Numerous high-profile cross-border M&A deals involving Chinese companies as acquirers point to the emergence of China as a global investor. The Chinese government's financial and political support of overseas direct investment (ODI) has intensified in the wake of China's accession to the WTO in 2001. The bulk of current Chinese ODI is driven either by the increasing need to secure overseas energy and raw material resources or as a countermeasure to growing competition and overcapacity in a number of key sectors of the domestic economy.
DB Research recently provided a study which is available through the link below:

India's capital markets have experienced sweeping changes since the beginning of the last decade. Its market infrastructure has advanced while corporate governance has progressed faster than in many other emerging market economies.
But in contrast to several developed countries and Asian economies, India's capital markets are still shallow, implying that further reforms are needed to make India a world-class financial centre. In it's India special series DB Research published another study figuring out that persisting reforms in the sector can support India's already impressive growth in the next years.

Are Germany's SMEs an endangered species ? DB Research states: The succession gap in Germany's Mittelstand (small and medium-sized enterprises, or SMEs) is overstated. Attractive businesses have no difficulty finding new owners these days.
However, with succession solutions outside the proprietor families on the increase, the successful, typically German (family) business structure could start to crumble. Might this also impair the German Mittelstand's business capital, high flexibility coupled with organically evolved trust? In the long term many SMEs are looking at a bright future. Crucial to this, besides the efficient organisation of generation change, are new forms of cooperation and modern financing instruments. A better political environment for business start-ups and a more open-minded attitude to the immigration of business talent would strengthen the entrepreneurial landscape as a whole.

DB Research published a new study on the developing market for non-performing loans in Germany.
Not as in other countries (mainly the US and UK), Germany needed a long time to develop a market for non performing loans. German Banks have 160 to 300 billions of non performing loans in their balance sheets where 53% are corporate lendings. Four years after the first deals, non performing loans seems to become an established asset class now. Even provident banks meanwhile participate at the market. It is to expect that trading of non performing loans will in future be an even much more accepted operation. For foreign investors, an additional chance of entering the german markets and industries is coming up through buying non performing loans of companies in their strategic focus. Often, traditional companies have strong brand names at their disposal but fell into the trap of local production costs and labour costs. The situation of Germany is likewise in many other european countries.
